Ya Gotta be FRESH...

Your Jiu Jitsu rashguard is your trusted companion on the mat, but it can quickly become a breeding ground for bacteria and odours. Proper washing and care can extend its lifespan and keep you feeling fresh. Let's dive into the best practices for washing your Jiu Jitsu rashguard.

Step 1: DON’T LEAVE DIRTY ITEMS IN YOUR BAG

Get your gear out as soon as you can, avoid letting it sit in all that sweat.. soak it in a Hygiene Laundry Rinse (we like Canesten) if you can’t wash it straight away.

Step 2: Check the Label

Before washing, always check the manufacturer's instructions for specific care guidelines.

Step 3: Wash in Cold Water

Use cold water to prevent colours from fading and fabrics from shrinking.

Step 4: Mild Soap or Detergent

Choose a mild soap or detergent specifically designed for washing athletic wear.
Consider adding a Hygiene Laundry Rinse to the wash as well (again Canesten is our recommendation, its Antibac and Antifungal)

Step 5: Don’t Use Fabric Softener

Fabric softener might seem like it will help to remove odour from your gear but it does the opposite, the fabric softener can coat the fibres and lock sweat into the fibres making it very difficult to remove the odours/bacteria.

Step 6: Air Dry or Low Heat

Air dry or use low heat to prevent shrinkage and damage to the fabric.

Tips:

- Wash your rashguard after every use

- Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals

- Use a Hygiene Laundry Rinse

- Consider hand washing for extra care

- Store your clean rashguard in a well-ventilated area

By following these simple steps, you'll keep your Jiu Jitsu rashguard clean, fresh, and ready for your next training session. Remember, a clean rashguard is not only hygienic but also the correct care should keep it smelling fresh and lasting a long time.. your training partners will thank you heaps too.
